I've moved your thread here, to General Discussions, because it's more appropriate here (and it will probably be more visible). Skincrafter itself is a product of a company called DMSoft.

The web site for Skincrafter is I can tell you that both the APPHELP and USERENV.dll's are windows system files that are created by Microsoft. I know that userenv.dll has been a part of Windows since at least version 3.0, and I think that apphelp has been as well. The problem is not that they are missing (if you search your Windows system directory, they should be there if I remember correctly).

The reason that those files are reported as missing is because of the file versions. Both files are updated in windows 2000 and again in Windows XP (and will be again for Vista). So, the problem is that Skincrafter is looking for a newer function call in those dll's, which is a long winded explaination for the fact that skincrafter is obviously not compatible with Windows 98/ME.

Ohm, Thanks for responding. Your explantion was good.

I actually tried downloading other skins from the skincrafter.com gallery - that did not work. I also tried downloading a USERENV.DLL file, since I didn't see one in my C: WINDOWS SYSTEMS folder - that didn't work either. I subsequently deleted that USERENV.DLL file with no ill effects (I hope). I really don't know what else to do and your post indicates that Football Mogul is not compatible with Windows ME. The store I purchased Football Mogul 2007 from said they would give me store credit. That's better that nothing but it's not very useful to me since almost all of their products are too new for my system.

Besides they specialize in action games of which I have no interest. I know Sport Mogul's policy is NOT to accept returns other than for purchases made from their site, but I wonder if an exception can be made in this case.

You know my sad story. I certainly would not have purchased the game except for the fact that compatibility with Windows ME was listed on the game box (I actually have Football Mogul 2003 and was interested in the 2007 version for the play-by-play feature). Anyway do you think I should try to get a refund from Sports Mogul instead of a store credit?
