Thanks MichelPM. I am running 10 6 8 as mentioned in original post. Actually, all my Adobe apps/versions (also listed above, original post), iMail work seamlessly with my ancient OS. My main issue is Safari 5.1.1 which is the last version upgrade for my OS. It is really stumbling.

You can continue to install and use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign on Mac OS X 10.10. However, Adobe will no longer test releases or patches for these operating. About 8 mo ago, I fired up Firefox which worked great with my OS. However, I just learned they will only back support to 10 8. And it is beginning to sputter, too. Can you suggest another browser which synchs with my OS 10 6 8? I did a chat with Apple today where they basically chided me for having a 10 yr old computer with outdated OS. They offered me no solution to synching a new iPad to my 'stone–age' computer; ie, iMail files, Address Book & hundreds of Safari bookmarks.

For OS X 10.6.8, your only option for a secure web browser is the Mozilla Firefox ESR 45.x found here. This version of Firefox has been regularly updated for security release updates, but this version has NOT received any NEW FEATURE updates. Ignore all of the enterprise, organaisations and educational notes. Download, install and use this version. Mozilla is supporting this Firefox ESR for 10.6.8-10.8.5 until sometime in April 2017. There are no other web browser options for 10.6.8 after April. The only web browser support left on OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion is the Waterfox web browser.

So, you CAN dedide to keep using the last released version of the Firefox ESR once support ends in April OR dedide to upgrade your OS X and any software that you are using. I am in a similar situation as you as I am using a LOT of older, legacy software.

OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leoprd is very old and I, FINALLY, saw the handwriting on wall and last January 2016, I moved on to to both OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion AND OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks. This is as far as I can go though with much of my older software that I STILL continue to use everyday.

Apple and Adobe aren't going to support very old legacy software and OSes forever! Apple NEVER supported older OSes forever! Your are running a nearly an 11 year old OS X version! Your are running a version of Adobe Illustrator that is nearly 14-15 years old! So, how, exactly, is this Apple's OR Adobe's fault! When you choose, as I did, to run legacy OSes with old, legacy software, at some point, one day, that software is going to stop working BECAUSE of its age and non-compatibility with much more modern operating systems and more advanced third party softwares!
